Meesh Hooten and Amanda Pierson will be returning for the 2019 season. These players have played against each other for years and last year they played on the Texas Spurs 2018 team together.

Hooten started playing soccer at age four, wanting to do everything her older brothers did. She finished out her last club soccer years with the D'feeters soccer club out of Dallas. She was involved in ODP for several years making it as far as the U19 national pool but then tore her ACL. Hooten went on to played college soccer for Texas A&M and graduated with a degree in Sports Management. After graduating, Hooten continued playing in different indoor and outdoor leagues in North Texas. In 2008 she joined her first WPSL team with the Ft Worth Panthers, she then played one year with Dallas Premier and went back to Ft Worth for several more years until their team subsided. In 2018, Hooten played her first season with the Texas Spurs WPSL team bringing experience, vision, and a high workrate to the field.

Hooten also has been coaching at the club level, junior college level and now for her daughter's recreational team. She continues to do private lessons to players and is a solid role model for her daughter and other young athletes to grow up around in the sport of soccer.

Meesh Hooten’s family business, Hooten Family Healing Center, will be sponsoring the Texas Spurs this season as well, providing chiropractic care for the players. Hooten stated “I truly believe chiropractic is part of what has helped me continue playing at a high level at age 40. We are looking forward to providing care to the Spurs players!”

Amanda Pierson will be returning for her fifth year in a row with the Texas Spurs WPSL team. In the 2017 season, Pierson had a small break in her playing career as she welcomed her first child, Annika, into the world. She was back on the pitch by the 2018 season and is looking forward to continuing to play in the upcoming 2019 season!

Pierson played in the North Dallas area growing up, starting her club career with the Texas Spurs youth club. She finished her club career with Texas Spirit and went on to play soccer and tennis at St. Mary’s University where she received a bachelor degree in marketing.

She played in the WPSL for the Fort Worth Panthers her first summer after graduation. Soon after, she moved to Colorado to attend the University of Colorado at Denver for a masters degree in management and organization, specializing in sports and entertainment. There she had the opportunity to play in the W-league with the Colorado Force in 2011 and the Colorado Rapids in the 2012 season. She also played in the PASL (professional arena soccer league) with Denver Sizzle, where her team won nationals.

After playing for the Rapids, Pierson returned to the Dallas area to compete in the WPSL with Texas Football Club for a season. Soon after she signed a professional contract in Denmark in the 3F league with Fortuna Hjoring. After returning back to the states, Pierson played for FC Dallas ECNL and Liverpool in the WPSL in the same year. Once the Liverpool women’s team dissolved, she joined the Texas Spurs WPSL team and has had the opportunity to work behind the scenes as well as play for the past five years with the Texas Spurs WPSL team. She is also a youth club coach for the Texas Spurs holding an Advance National licensing (equivalent B license), coaching a U13 and U15 team. Pierson stated “I really enjoy being a part of the Texas Spurs family, it has been a wonderful experience watching the women’s program continue to develop. I’m looking forward to some of the girls I coach now one day playing for the WPSL team within our club! I cannot wait for the upcoming season!”

The Texas Spurs are excited to have Hooten and Pierson return in the 2019 season! We are looking forward to their awesome fan club of soccer players that will be coming out to cheer their coaches on as well! Good luck to both of these ladies this upcoming season.
